Air Comet folds

December 23: Spanish airline Air Comet suspended operations on Wednesday and has had its Air Operator Certificate revoked by Spanish authorities, according to ATW Daily News.
Based at Madrid, the airline operated two Airbus A310s, two A320s, five A330s and three A340s and employed around 640 personnel. According to Agence France Presse, Air Comet owes €17 million in aircraft lease payments to Nordbank, as well as €7 million in back pay to employees. It is likely that the airline will be liquidated with employees being made redundant, the ATW report says.
