Heathrow’s third runway likely to be axed

May 14: With the publication of the new UK coalition government’s joint issues document earlier this week, both the Conservative and Liberal Democratic parties have indicated that plans for a third runway at London’s Heathrow Airport will be axed as would additional capacity at Gatwick and Stansted Airports.
Also mentioned in the document is the aim to replace the unpopular Air Passenger Duty with a per-flight duty not based on passenger numbers.
