Chicago conducts hiring experiment

The Chicago Tribune reports how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting a new hiring experiment at Chicago´s main air traffic control centre
targeting future controllers with the talent and experience needed to eventually become certified to work every position in the radar facility.
Dozens of controllers who have at least one year experience at FAA airport towers and radar facilities will be tested for a week in a simulation lab to see how well they solve problems and handle the intense traffic volume in the Chicago region.
They will work on radar scopes and communicate with “pilots” who are employees of Raytheon Co. sitting in a separate room of the TRACON.
