Mumbai inaugurates India's tallest air traffic control tower

ATC_1 - webIndia’s tallest air traffic control tower with a height of 83.8 metres will enable the tower controllers at Mumbai to have unobstructed view of the entire operational area.
The new tower will be equipped with the latest technology including electronic flight strips which will ease the workload of the controller, enhancing safety and overall capacity of the airport.
Equipped to handle current and future air traffic movements at the GVK CSIA airport, the state-of-the-art tower coupled with an airside upgrade with the addition of new taxiways and rapid-exit taxiways will help reduce Runway Occupancy Time (ROT) enhancing efficiency levels and increase movements per hour.
GVK CSIA awarded the iconic design & architecture project to Hong Kong architectural design firm HOK and international engineering design firm ARUP following a design competition. International lighting consultant SPEIRS & MAJORS were mandated for the innovatively designed lighting of the tower to bring out the sculptural qualities of the new tower.
