Ahl to head Sweden’s SDATS as remote tower market matures

Per Ahl is to take over as the new chief executive of Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions (SDATS).

In 2016, LFV and Saab formed the joint company Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions in an effort to market, sell, develop and remotely operate digital air traffic control services.

The business said remotely-controlled air traffic control services have achieved market acceptance and SDATS is seeing a significant increase in the number of possible contracts. “It is therefore increasingly important to secure these deals,” it added.

The board of SDATS has therefore decided to appoint Per Ahl as the new chief executive of SDATS. Ahl who is currently head of marketing has significant experience and expertise in the market for remote controlled air traffic control services.

Under the leadership of Johan Klintberg – who goes on to new assignments – SDATS was first in the world with operational remote-controlled air traffic control services.

“New challenges now face us. Per Ahl has been involved throughout the journey with developing the world’s first remote-controlled air traffic control service, which has now been in operation for three years. Per has the expertise required to develop SDATS to the next level,” said Peter Engberg, chairman of SDATS.
